A while back I saw a post from another photographer with horses...and being a girl whose mother had horses most of her life, I too wanted to shoot a couple with their horses. Then I met these two and as we were talking at their consultation, the mentioned that they wanted to incorporate their horses in their shoot. They probably thought I was crazy y'all...I about shot out of my seat. Ashley and Dusty were originally planning their wedding for later this year, but an opportunity to move out west to Wyoming presented itself and they took it. The following their May wedding, they are loading up everything they have (including the horses) and traveling across the country to start their new life together as husband and wife. Their engagement session was a dream! Dusty came with so many ideas and was so excited to shoot portraits. And Ashley, well she's gorgeous and one of the sweetest people you've ever met. We got to walk around Ashley parents' home, where in just a few short weeks they will say "I do". |

move"'s, and I work really hard to make the guys have fun. Because if we're honest...most guys don't like their pictures taken. And Justin opened up and I got some genuine smiles and laughs. This is why I love engagement sessions...seriously y'all it is just nice to hang out with my couples, who just so happen to be getting pictures taken.
Justin and Sam will be getting married October and I love a good fall wedding, especially if it is one of my childhood friends!
You may recognize this newly engagement couple featured on day four of "PROPOSAL WEEK". This isn't their first time here on the blog...there couples session from last summer was featured on Melissa Hearts Weddings.
Ryan messaged me about putting together another shoot at the same location as a ruse to get Alex to Dismal Falls. It worked beautifully and it was actually true...I just left out the fun part when asking Alex. Once we got the falls, Ryan brought out a leather bound journal that he wanted to use as a "prop". And to Alex's surprise, he'd already written her a letter. As they read it together, Ryan turning the pages for her...eventually he turned it to the center of the journal and inside it held her ring. Seriously you guys, wait until you see her reaction! It was priceless. Alex and I are going to be Co-Maid's of Honor this summer at our best friends wedding and now Alex is planning one of her own.
My dearest Nayfin,
2,920 days. That's how long we've been together. A third of our lives have been spent side by side, hand in hand and I couldn't imagine walking with anyone else. 8 years is a long time, longer than most marriages these days. Of course we've had our moments. Moments where one of us doesn't feel like we deserve the other. Moments that we argue over silly things, but we always made up. Many people think that high school sweethearts don't last and many don't. I'm proud to be the exception to that. But I wouldn't have wanted anyone else to share life with. Over the years you helped foster my love for photography and got the ball rolling "bugging me" to buy a new DSLR. And once I did, you encouraged me to try new things and be brave enough to start shooting things that weren't stationary. I'm so thankful for that! Without that push, I wouldn't be writing this letter to you on a photography blog that I hold so near and dear to my heart. In an eight year span, you've tried all kinds of new hobbies. In high school it was skateboarding. In college, banjos and road biking. But now you've found your most dangerous one yet in whitewater kayking. Even though it terrifies me, I'm so proud of you! Kayaking not only takes strength but determination, bravery, and skill. I've loved getting to watch your fascination grow and hearing your stories of triumph! Thank you for pushing me to be better (and sometimes just pushing my buttons). Thank you for putting up with me even when I in a mood. Thank you for holding me when I need to cry. Thank you for letting me know when I'm wrong (which is never, right babe?). But most of all, thank you for loving me. In this season of our lives, I'm just happy to come home to you. I'm excited about our future and all that life has in store for us. I love having a home to call "ours" and having fur-babies to love on. All in all, I love sharing life with you! Happy Anniversary Sweetheart!
