Once Nathan and I graduated high school and were in college, he decided to buy a little 1994 Jeep Wrangler. We loved (and still love) getting out and playing in the Jeep. We were fortunate enough to find a club that offered more of that. The New River Valley Jeep Club has been so good to us over the past 4 years.  We’ve done a lot of off-roading, camping and hanging out with some amazing friends! Now,  the NRV Jeep Club is how I met E.J.(I’m pretty sure he was just starting high school when we joined the club). His parents are the presidents, organizers, all around good people… and in March they will be celebrating 10 years of the NRVJC. 

We already had this shoot at Mountain Lake planned, but then a cold spell came through along with snow. Sophie, E.J.’s mom , wasn’t sure if we should continue with our plans or not but EJ was all for it. During the winter he is a ski and snowboard instructor at the Homestead Resort, so the snow doesn’t bother him. It was perfect actually that it ended up being a winter wonderland at Mountain Lake that day because he brought his snow gear and we shot some of him and his snowboard…Which was awesome.

Oh Cheyenne picked a perfect day to shoot her senior portraits! It was so nice out and there was pretty sunset lighting, then nice shade at times...it was great. We met at Heritage Park in Blacksburg for her session. I hadn't been there before but I had been wanting to shoot there for quite some time...so glad that I had the chance to explore it a little with Cheyenne and her mom JoBeth.  

Cheyenne will be graduating from Christiansburg High School with the Class of 2015 and plans to go into the Airforce. I just love getting to work with so many different types of people that have big plans and dreams for their future.

I have been busy lately and I am LOVING IT! I love getting to work with my wedding/engagement couples, but I also really enjoy working seniors. When Emily contacted me, I just happened to have an opening the following week and I’m so glad that we were both able to schedule it. It was a little chilly out at Sinkland Farms in Riner, VA for Emily’s session but oh was the light beautiful that day. The clouds were gorgeous, as was Emily.

She brought along her boyfriend Chris for a few pictures too and I couldn't help but take a few of him solo since he is graduating this spring as well. 

I absolutely love the images of Emily in her white dress and jean jacket, they are probably some of my favorite senior images EVER! Seriously though, I couldn't get home fast enough and start editing. 

Another thing I loved about Emily, is that instead of getting a new class ring...she is wearing her mom's Christiansburg High School ring which is has a neat design on the sides. I just loved it!

When I first got the email about the possibility of taking Thomas’ senior pictures…I was so excited because I haven’t got to shoot just a guy in quite a while. Plus the email came from my fourth grade teacher…who I hadn’t seen in years! So glad that she came along so I could find out how she’d been since I passed through her class at Riverlawn Elementary all those years ago.

We had originally planned to shoot on a Saturday but it ended up being cloudy, windy and somewhat cold that day…so we postponed a day and shot on a sunny and warm Sunday evening. I am so glad that we waited because the light was absolutely beautiful!

Thomas decided on Claytor Lake State Park in Dublin, VA for his senior portraits since he will be graduating from Pulaski County High School in the spring.  As we walked through the park, Thomas and I talked of his plans for when he graduates and he showed me pictures he’d taken of their horses and other scenes.

      When Chloe first messaged me, she said wanted to take pictures somewhere near or in water. She is a swimmer for Christiansburg High School and wanted to show her love of the water so we ended up at Wildwood Park in Radford, VA for her lovely senior session. She was so great to work with, I really do love my senior portrait sessions! It was a great evening to be playing around in the creek, since the water was nice and cool.
